As a 501(c)3 organization, Alchemist CDC is qualified employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Note about our hiring process: All applications received will be redacted to remove the identity of the applicant before being forwarded to the hiring manager for their initial review. This step helps us to reduce the impact of implicit bias in the hiring process, as well as preventing favoritism toward applicants who may be known to the organization or hiring manager prior to submitting their application.

Pay Transparency:

We are committed to ethical hiring and compensation practices, including accurately listing compensation rates and ranges. Furthermore, our wages are established for parity across the organization meaning that each position classification is paid within a defined range.

We recognize that some employers post low-ball wages in job descriptions in order to leave room for negotiation. We post the actual wages that we are able to offer for a position because we believe candidates should know what compensation to expect before doing the work of applying for a job. If one of our job postings has a listed range, that range accurately captures the maximum and minimum compensation for the role. If a job posting lists a specific wage and says “non-negotiable”, that is the actual wage that will be offered.

We respect the time of applicants and ask that applicants respect our time as well. If a job description posts a wage that you would not accept for the role, we invite you to wait to apply for a role that does meet your wage requirement as we will not be able to offer a different rate at the time of hiring.

Internship Opportunities

Thank you for considering Alchemist CDC. We do not presently have any pre-designed internship openings, but we are always interested in collaborating with students to design customized internships that can assist them in their educational and professional pursuits.

Alchemist CDC regularly works with college and university students (pre- and post-graduate) to offer them an exciting opportunity to work directly with community members. Students gain hands-on work and service experience, and Alchemist’s projects benefit greatly from the knowledge and enthusiasm of its interns.

It’s wonderful to see Alchemist volunteers and interns go on to do exciting new things, and it’s safe to say the experience one gains working with us can help build careers in community service. For example, Amy Edmonds, who completed an internship with us, went on to work for the Ecology Center’s Farmers’ Market EBT Program as Program Assistant and is currently an Analyst at the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UCSF. Other interns have gone on to work for organizations such as an urban gardening non-profit and SHRA. Yet another former intern has served on our board of directors for six years.

Alchemist CDC is also open to crafting an internship position around your academic and career goals, focusing on such skills and programs as: policy change, community outreach and engagement, social justice collaboration, vacant lot revitalization, marketing, evaluations, and social media.
