Oak Park Sol Community Garden
We are profoundly grateful to the Sacramento Metro Chamber’s Leadership Sacramento class of 2025 for the incredible work they performed improving Oak Park Sol!
Alchemist CDC was honored to have Oak Park Sol selected for the 2025 Class Project. This impressive group of local leaders raised $193k in cash and in-kind donations and contributed hundreds of hours of volunteer service to create a welcoming and accessible community gathering space, improve the outdoor kitchen area, introduce art and educational signage, provide an accessible entrance path, deliver electricity to the site, and equip us to grow more food for community distribution!
We look forward to welcoming the community back into this space to enjoy the fruits of their labor!
Oak Park Sol is a garden that has grown out of a neighborhood desire to have a creative green space that could serve as a place to grow food, demonstrate sustainable practices, share knowledge and build community connectivity. The garden includes:
- Outdoor kitchen and community gathering space
- Little free pantry
- Little free library
- Greenhouse
- Garden plots, some of which are tended by individual gardeners and some being grown collaboratively for food distribution
- Children’s play area and creativity space
- Grape arbor “sitting space”
- Community composting area
- Mural
- Native plant pollinator garden
