Pet Policy
No dogs are allowed. We love dogs, but California law does not allow them to join you at the farmers’ market unless they are service animals. California Health & Safety Code 114259.5 stipulates that live animals aren’t allowed in Certified Farmers’ Markets and permitted food facilities, with the exception of service animals. Fraudulently misrepresenting service animals is a misdemeanor (California Penal Code 365.7 [a]).

Market History
This market (sometimes known as the Country Club Plaza market) has been serving the Arden community for 42 years. The first certified farmers’ market in the Country Club Plaza area was established in 1983 at Country Club Centre as a program of the Interfaith Service Bureau to bring low-cost, direct-from-the-farmer food to the urban community, and to aid small-acreage family farms by providing an economically viable alternative to the traditional wholesale system that is controlled by the pricing system and economies of large acreage agriculture.
Since its founding, Certified Farmers’ Markets of Sacramento have operated this market with dedication to those same two goals and have seen it become a fixture of the community, where neighbors see one another and catch up while picking up farm-fresh groceries.
That first Country Club CFM was located in the large vacant parking lot behind Country Club Centre and was subsequently moved to the parking lot that was in front of Wards. It operated at Country Club Centre until Wards closed and Walmart was established.
In 2000, the market was moved across Watt Ave to the Butano parking lots behind Country Club Plaza at the invitation and behest of the Country Club Plaza Mall’s Marketing Director.
While the market will now be operated by Alchemist Community Development Corporation, Danielle Best will provide continuity and consistency as the market manager. Alchemist CDC also carries forward the same goals of food access, support for small local farms, and community development.
We are grateful to be entrusted with the future of this historic market and look forward to building even more connections with neighbors in Arden-Arcade!

Our Country Club Plaza area Certified Farmers’ Market continues to be operated with dedication by the nonprofit Certified Farmers’ Markets of Sacramento with the same original two-prong purposes as its primary goals.

We then in 2000 moved across Watt Ave to the Butano parking lots behind Country Club Plaza at the invitation and behest of the Country Club Plaza Mall’s Marketing Director. We have continued operating under the privilege afforded us by several subsequent owners of Country Club Plaza Mall and their management teams.
