“I came across the Alchemist program in 2019, it changed my life as a small business owner. As part of the program they taught me the steps to create a strong business plan and brought in experts to speak with us on different subject matters related to business. The mentorship and coaching provided by the Alchemist Kitchen Incubator Program has opened doors I never knew were there.”

“Volunteering with Alchemist has deepened my roots to the Sacramento region and was crucial in helping me feel connected to my community when I moved back to Elk Grove during the pandemic. I always look forward to catching up with other volunteers and employees at the farmers’ markets, learning from farmers/vendors what’s growing in season, and seeing “regulars” at the Laguna and Central markets. It’s worth the drive 4 hours each week even now that I’ve moved back to SF!”

“In 2020, Alchemist found a way to keep me connected to a group of motivated “foodtrepreneurs” during a time when personal connection was otherwise a struggle. We were able to collaborate and ask questions of one another, as well as pick the minds of successful people in the industry in a safe and productive space. “
Henry, Dallas, Rich
“As a volunteer at the Florin Farmers’ Market through Alchemist, Henry is surrounded by fresh produce, which gives Henry access to healthy food options on a regular basis. The market is comparatively consistent in terms of vendors, so this gives Henry more opportunities for relationship-building. In fact, once he’s done volunteering, one might find Henry at a fruit vendor sampling what’s on hand, making a purchase or simply having an encouraging interaction with a local farmer. Henry hopes that his introduction to Alchemist via the farmers’ markets can translate into other community-building opportunities in the future.”

“Since I started the Alchemist Program in Spring of 2020, I was able to turn my dream into a reality. I highly recommend supporting this program to help future food entrepreneurs in the greater Sacramento area.”

“I found myself talking to farmers more to learn more ways to make and serve food. Doing so helps me become healthier and learn to eat local. I have also received some gardening tips so when I start growing plants I can make use of them. I connected more with the local community as there are community leaders that attend and sponsor markets so I am more in tune with what is going on with my neighbors.”

“Sharing a safe space to express the truth of what you go through as an entrepreneur, it’s a deep connection that allows you to feel validated and encouraged to live through your dreams. The love is awesome, encouragement is overflowing. I’ve been through programs that mention great benefits and support but none that have shown what Alchemist does.”

“I’ve loved my time working with Alchemist CDC, it’s let me learn so much more about the rich communities that we have surrounding us in these markets, and they’re all so different that each one is its own experience. Being a part of this little community that Alchemist has cultivated has helped me so much through my time as a student during the pandemic!”
Rhiannon Killian
“After one of our busiest farmers markets, I felt so proud that between all the volunteers and Alchemist staff we were able to provide support and service to dozens of our customers in their first languages. I feel honored to be a part of a volunteer team that is as diverse as our community. We’re simply neighbors helping neighbors access the best, freshest food possible. “

“No matter if I was working with local farmers, volunteers, or Alchemist staff I felt supported, seen, and valued. I knew every week I would be surrounded by people who were genuinely passionate about helping improve the lives of individuals and families throughout our community. Alchemist not only provided me with many new opportunities, but surrounded me with people who helped me discover new passions.”
