Oak Park Sol and Alchemist CDC Have Merged!

We are very excited to announce that Alchemist Community Development Corporation (CDC) and Oak Park Sol will join forces to operate as one organization! This collaborative move will allow both organizations to provide deeper community impact in the Sacramento region. We truly believe that we are stronger together.

Oak Park Sol has been working with residents in Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood for close to eight years to create community green spaces that are open to all through land activation projects. Alchemist CDC has worked in partnership with Oak Park Sol on the Pansy Garden Park. As a merged organization, we will expand our Alchemist CDC land-based projects to include the existing projects of Oak Park Sol, including the Broadway Sol Garden, the 34th Street off-ramp improvement, and the Art Park at 14th Ave. and MLK.

We are thrilled to have Oak Park Sol’s Executive Director, Randy Stannard, share his expertise and join the Alchemist CDC Team. In addition, the current Oak Park Sol Board members will bring their skills and talents to serve as new members of the Alchemist CDC Board of Directors.

Alchemist CDC will continue to manage and grow all of our current programs and look forward to expanding our work in the community. Together, we will support Sacramento area residents in their eorts to create vibrant, equitable, healthy and diverse communities!

CalFresh Transactions This Year

"[Market Match] is the best thing ever. I only get $15/month [in CalFresh benefits] but I spend it all here- I get one and a half times my money and it’s all healthy stuff. You don’t have to be wealthy to eat well!"

– Janet, Market Match customer

"Feeding a family with $100 is so much more realistic, less stressful, and I can buy quality foods with that. The farmers’ market is a testament to that — I’m just amazingly grateful that that’s even an option for us"

– Rachel, CalFresh customer

"CalFresh acceptance at farmers' markets allows access to healthy foods that is missing in so many of my patients' diets. For those patients especially struggling with their weight, diabetes, or heart disease, I make them aware of this important community asset that Alchemist CDC provides."

– Rachel Hollander, MD

"The "Alchemist Team" has played a vital part to our success and we are extremely appreciative for the generous support given to our small business. We will definitely be more attentive to the fresh produce section and plan to patron the Farmers' Market to restock."

– Yvonne Cooks, Go Healthy Market
