On February 21, 2019, SMUD announced that Alchemist CDC was one of twenty-one Shine Grant awardees. Alchemist CDC’s application for the SMUD Shine Grant requested funding for the Pansy Community Garden Park project. SMUD received a wide range of applications and the selected projects were able to successfully demonstrate collaboration and the potential for broad neighborhood impact.
The awarded funds will be used for various components of the garden park, including a shade structure and pathways, as well as hiring a part-time resident caretaker to oversee park maintenance and support community engagement.
